The 'Hockey Nut' stick from Redhead Hockey

It's not often you get excited over a hockey stick but when I came across this one when I was surfing through the manufacturers web sites, it really did catch my eye.

Was it because of it's stunning looks, unlike mine, or purely the fact that it has the same name as my site, well I thought i'd get one and give it a go, well it's not here yet so I contacted Steven at Redhead Hockey (www.redheadhockey.co.uk) for some details.

The stick comes in a range of sizes from 30", 32", 33", 34", 35", 36" and the full sizes 36.5" and 37.5" both these come in lights and medium weights.

The logos for all our sticks come from our very successful clothing range and for us this was the next logical progression.

Each stick is made to the highest standards and are full composite. This season 2007-08 we are introducing a junior wooden range in red, pink and white.

To complement the sticks we have 2 stick bags - the first is the simple 1 stick bag and the second is the multi stick bag with 2 compartments for clothes shoes etc. and a comfortable padded shoulder strap.

The Hockey Nut is fully composite

18mm Bend with a Gloss finish, 25mm Bend with a Matt finish

Weights Light & Medium
Lengths 36.5" & 37.5"

Watch this space, when I get my hands on it and I find a willing goalkeeper who will let me hit a few balls at him, I wonder if James will let me ????

My visit to TK's Warehouse in Salisbury.

Me with TK Germany at the World Cup with Thomas to my left.

Have you ever been to a sports shop to buy a Hockey stick and they do not have the one that you wanted, well I definitely did not have that problem today, in an effort to bring hockey to you I traveled to the TK wholesale warehouse in Salisbury to find out all about possibly the largest supplier of Hockey equipment in the UK.

TK equipment was first imported into the the UK by the present MD of TK Hockey (UK) ltd, Peter Curtis approximately 17 years ago with a few sticks, now the company has 8 staff and more than 29 different types of stick, clothing, goal keeping equipment etc more than you actually think.

When you first walk into the TK Hockey lobby, you think the place is quite small but when you walk into the warehouse! here there are floor to ceiling racks with 5000 sticks for retailers to choose from. Every size shape and color of stick you could think of, wooden and composite. I was very impressed with the ranges for kids stick's, the amount of clothing in their range and the well informed staff who are not just people who fill boxes with orders. No wonder retailers think TK are the best!

I asked Peter and Gary to run through one of there sticks the CX2+ and this is what they said;

"The CX2+ was introduced in 2004 as a more affordable and useable version of the mighty Matrix CWT from the previous year. Only TK could come up with such a design, and by making it with a 26mm bow as opposed to the extreme bows of 40mm to 50mm of other special drag flicking sticks, this offers the best of both worlds. The CWT concave surface offers control and consistency for drag flicking and aerials. The bow is not so extreme and thus appeals to many more players for whom skill and control are important parts of their game. It is important to stress that the CWT design conform fully to current and new FIH stick specifications. One of the best selling sticks from the TK range."

Overall I was very impressed with the TK staff and equipment, There was lots to choose from and a varied choice, they know what they are talking about and know their equipment inside and out.

Will be looking at more of their equipment soon.
